Architectural Research Consultants, Incorporated, in conjunction with Wilson and Co., worked with Floyd Municipal Schools in Floyd, New Mexico, to develop a comprehensive facilities master plan (FMP). The district maintains 85,275 gross square feet on about 18 acres of land for educational, administration and teacher housing. The district had 224 students in grades pre-K through 12 for the 2014-2015 school year.

The plan includes a physical evaluation of the district’s school and administrative support facilities. It also includes enrollment projections, and analyses of the area’s demographics and economics, school facility enrollment capacity, and school facility utilization. ARC investigated options for consolidation of facility space and optimization of usage.

ARC evaluated the school facility and site for physical condition, health/safety issues, code compliance, and programmatic issues. We identified about $6.5 million in total facility renewal capital improvement project needs.

ARC codified the recommended projects and developed a computerized database for developing priorities, funding strategies, future capital improvement project programs, and maintenance programs. We developed a capital plan to clearly illustrate the district’s priorities and capital strategy.

ARC compiled a set of facility drawings of the district’s physical plant inventory. The district can use the drawings to record changes and to assist in facilities management. ARC also created color-coded school facility utilization “maps” to assist the district in facility use planning.
