CNM is the largest higher education institution in New Mexico based on undergraduate enrollment with about 25,000 students by headcount. CNM currently has seven campuses throughout Bernalillo and Sandoval Counties encompassing about 2 million square feet of facilities on 344 acres of land. CNM also owns land, residential and commercial properties, and leases other properties throughout its district.
Architectural Research Consultants, Incorporated (ARC) headed a team to prepare a “Visioning the Future” Facilities Master Plan. ARC’s team included Dekker Perich Sabatini, MRWM Landscape Architects, Bridgers & Paxton Consulting Engineers, Inc., and High Mesa Consulting Group.
A major goal of the plan was to develop and clearly communicate the college’s long-range development strategy and capital requirements to meet expected program requirements and enrollment growth from 2020 to 2027.
The plan provides information about:
• Background of the mission, programs, and existing facilities condition and use
• Expected service area and enrollment growth
• Expected facility needs to accommodate growth
• Implications for the future and the chosen development strategy
• Capital needs and resources required to make the plan a reality
Appendices provide more detailed information regarding the campus planning framework, development plans for the seven CNM campuses, site and facility condition, and facility use.
