San Juan College (SJC) intends to construct new student housing. The Student Housing developer requested SJC to provide an alternate housing site different from that which was originally proposed for the project and is reflected in the college Facilities Master Plan.

SJC asked Architectural Research Consultants, Incorporated (ARC) to assist them to identify, evaluate, and recommend potential site(s) most suitable for new student housing. MRWM Landscape Architects assisted ARC.

ARC used a four-step study process that:

• Identified nine site options through discussion with SJC staff and consideration of the campus Master Plan
• Identified eight selection criteria categories that reflect site size, cost of development, safety, and general amenities that the site may offer
• Evaluated the sites with respect to the criteria
• Recommended a preferred site based on an analysis of the criteria.
