Educational Facility Planning

ARC specializes in facilities master planning for educational institutions and we are the acknowledged leader for these services in New Mexico and the southwest region.

For over four decades, ARC has developed facility master plans, educational specifications and programs of requirements. These services include facility evaluations, utilization and capacity analyses, enrollment projections, and budget and bond cycle analyses, as well as ADA accessibility surveys, technology inventories, geographic information systems (GIS) analysis of school attendance boundaries and geographically locating students for planning school bus routes.

Facilities play a fundamental role in the quality of education. ARC is committed to helping provide appropriate, safe, and functional learning environments. With our educational specifications, we establish standards and guidelines to ensure that schools have classrooms and support spaces that follow the best trends in education, and are flexible enough to accommodate new educational models.

Schools everywhere face difficult decisions about allocating limited resources. ARC works closely with schools to identify, prioritize, fund and implement facility upgrades and repairs. We evaluate spaces and the condition of building systems, analyze classroom utilization with our in-house computer tools, and identify problems and opportunities. We have evaluated more than 140 million square feet of educational facilities.

We establish financial timelines to anticipate bonds, legislative appropriations, and other sources of funding for facility projects. We are very aware of the need for local community support for successful passage of local bond and mill levies for school districts, and have actively assisted districts in preparing plans that gain local voter support. Since the early 1980s, we have helped school districts to plan and fund more than $3 billion of capital projects.

With our geographic location capability, we can map every student in a district and provide sociodemographic data for each, where available. With this information, we help school districts establish district boundaries and bus routes.
